Sheila Bishop Slo-pitch Tournament

justajigalo

The 8th annual Sheila Bishop Memorial Wood Bat Tournament is a new addition to the Penticton Peach Festival list of activities this year.

The games will be held at the Lion's and Parkway ball fields on August 6 and 7.

Games begin at 8:30 am on both days and go until about 6 pm on Saturday and 4 pm on Sunday. The tournament is co-ed with 6 men and 4 women on the field at a time and follows all the Penticton Slo-pitch League rules with the exception, of course, that only wood bats (which we supply) are used.

The entry fee is $350 and we are hoping to have 12 teams entered this year. Each team is guaranteed to play 4 games.

We have a beverage garden on site all weekend, and a raffle and silent auction table. We also feature a home run hitting contest on Sunday afternoon! We'd like to mention that every cent we make from the tournament is donated to charity. Thank you to our many friends who help us throughout the weekend and a special thank you to local umpires who donate their time and skills. This saves us a huge amount and allows us to donate a larger sum every year. Last year we donated $3,000, which was split between the South Okanagan Children’s Charities, Dragonfly Pond Society and a young local boy who is suffering with Crone's disease. This brought the donated amount to over $20,000 over the life of the tournament.

For information on the tournament, whether to play and/or to volunteer, please call Paul Borba at 250-809-7601.
